Rest assured, you are not alone. There are many reasons why people are making a career change:
- layoff, reduction in industry workforce, non-profit loss of funding, store closings and buyouts
- retirement is “not working” for them
- time off to provide care for a loved one and now it’s time to return to work
⛅ New Season of Life
You may be surprised to learn that the average age individual I am working with is 51 years old. They want a career change for one of the common reasons above or recently realized that retirement is not an option for another 15-20 years.
Helping individuals figure out what “they want to do when they grow up” is the BEST part of my role as Student Navigator.
👟 How to Get Started
Vision Your Future
- Where would you like to work? Do you see yourself in an office, working remotely or on a boat?
- Do you need to earn a certain amount of money?
- Are you willing to move?
- Are there parts of your past work or volunteer experience that you would like to continue to pursue and become an expert in the field?
Take a Survey
Many people have not completed a career interest survey ever, of if they have, it was done in high school or college. You may be surprised by the results.
